· Displacement of white collar manufacturing workers
· Forming partnerships between higher education and manufacturers
· Developing mentors to assist manufacturing entrepreneurs
· Attracting foundation seed funding for business pre-incubation programs
· Pairing entrepreneurs with potential customers or customer firms
