Tool & Die Futures Initiative Meeting Announcement (March 5, 2010)

Tool & Die Futures Initiative (TDFI) March Meeting
March 5th, 1:30-4:30pm Elliott Hall Auditorium, Oakland University
The Tool & Die Futures Initiative (TDFI) www.toolanddiefutures.org, was established with an inaugural session on Jan 29th, 2010 based on extensive discussions with key stakeholders (tool and die industry representatives, CAR, Ford, Takata and many other displaced white collar professionals) since May 2009. It is hosting its 2nd meeting to continue discussion on two specific items and develop project ideas for the summer in support of tool and die industry competitiveness.
1. There has been a lot of discussion recently on total cost and how tooling costs fit into this total cost? What does each tier look at when they look at tooling costs? In this meeting, we would like to begin to define what constitutes total cost, tooling costs, and what factors drive variables that will influence these costs?
2. What projects can we start to increase the efficiency and competitiveness of TD Industry and who will benefit from these projects? A prioritization of these projects and a segmentation of interested stakeholders can start to help us identify funding sources such as MMTC and others, as well as some shared funding from TDFI members. Many of these projects will start in May for possible execution, with OU student participation.
Help shape the tool and die industry group and chart a course that will positively change the industry. Please email or call by March 3rd. Bob Quinn, RCM Tool E-mail: bob@rcmtool.com 586-336-1237; Cell 586-557-4655
The next meeting will be April 9th – same place and same time.
