As one of the key areas in Southeast Michigan known as "Automation Alley", Macomb County companies have committed to add almost 700 new jobs–many in the Machine, Tool, Die & Mold (MTDM) sectors.

When Detroit was humming along during the "Arsenal of Democracy" time period of WWII, it wasn't just the pinnacle of automotive retooling for tanks and other ground vehicles. The Motor City and surrounding areas were also the epicenter of aircraft manufacturing. In an effort to break up some of the consolidation of manufacturing prowess in one area there were efforts to spread these abilitites around–primarily to the west coast. However, the Metro Detroit area once again appears close to becoming one of the primary hubs of aerospace manucfaturing.

Global Tooling Systems (Macomb Township)

Leading the pack is Global Tooling Systems Inc. with an investment of $17 Million as they scale up and move from Utica to Macomb Township. The aerospace supplier of assembly tooling, parts machining, fixtures and more plans to add almost 200 additional jobs.

Visioneering, Inc. (Fraser)

Planning to add 50 new employees, the fixtures and tooling supplier to the aerospace industry has committed $3.5 Million to their new initiative.

DM Fabricating Inc (Sterling Heights)

Suppliers of welded components to the defense and automotive segments invested over $2 Million with plans of adding a couple dozen new jobs.

Models & Tools Inc. (Shelby Township)

Tool designers and manufacturers for the defense, commerical and space segments of the aerospace industry have invested $3 Million with plans to add about 60 new employees.
