Upcoming Tool and Die Forum to Bring University, OEM, Tier 1 and suppliers together

If you are located–or open to driving–near Auburn Hills, Michigan you are invited to attend this forum on the campus of Oakland University put together by Center for Integrated Business Research and Education (CIBRE)  . You can email your reservation per the instructions below or feel free to email me with any questions. If you want to make a reservation to attend by contacting me, that's fine too and I'll take care of it.

There is no cost to attend and this follows up a meeting we had with Dean of the Business School as well as Executives from Ford and Takata on how the future of U.S. tooling companies can work cohesively with the supply chain and ultimately strengthen our future. I've been honored to have been selected as a CIBRE Associate and take great pride in the value and services it provides the local business environment. If you are a client of mine you are welcome to attend but rest assured I will represent and attend on your behalf. ~Joe Brown

Tooling Consortium; May 9th at Oakland University (Rochester, MI)

April 21, 2009
By Joe Brown
In conjunction with Oakland University, we are
having a consortium on May 9th at Oakland University to discuss problems in the
tool & die industry, and more specifically to address the myth that American tool & die can
not compete with low cost countries.

We would also like to discuss actionable
solutions/methods to reverse the outsourcing.

All are invited, and also I would like to know if
any of you would like to put your two cents in.  We would like to have your
input, especially any of you with success stories competing against offshore sourcing.

While this is somewhat of an informal event, we would like to line up some
“impromptu” speakers.

Hope to see some of you there. Joe

Please contact Bob Quinn at bob@rcmtool.com or Joe Brown at marketingforward@yahoo.com

The
Center for Integrated Business Research and Education (CIBRE) in the
School of Business Administration at Oakland University is hosting informal discussions
two Saturdays a month where you can interact with the dean of the
School of Business Administration, faculty members and other career
professionals to engage in a conversation that might help you as you
make the transition to new career opportunities.

The goal of this
CIBRE Conversation is to gather information, seek commonalities among
those exploring alternative careers and develop strategies that will
help people start a journey to a fruitful career in a new Michigan
economy.

In addition, you can:

  • Network  with other people who are transforming their careers,
  • Find out about current or emerging opportunities in the new economy,
  • Provide
feedback about how current resources are supporting your transformation
or what you would like to assist you in developing and meeting your
    career goals.

 Who will benefit?

Individuals exploring a career change or opportunities in the new economy.  A few examples:

  • You are a senior project manager at an automotive firm
and took a buy-out, feel you have about 10 more good years left before
you retire. What can you do next?
  • You are an engineer
with 10 years experience in automotive with an undergraduate degree in
Engineering and an MBA. You want to look at options in other sectors –
    even possibly become an entrepreneur!
  • You have been a
marketing manager for 20 years and have 20 more years to work. You have
a family to support. You have to do something different, but what?
  • You
are a small business owner with a unique product that supports
automotive firms. You are evaluating how you can expand your
capabilities to other sectors and even change your business model.
